Botswana was one of the first countries in Africa that Chris ever visited. While helping to set up our predator research safari, it was the incredible diversity of wilderness and the lack of tourists of this country that captured his imagination. Bordered on all sides by South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia, Botswana is a country of salt pans, diamond-rich deserts and fertile flood plains, where the endless semi-desert of the Kalahari is relieved by one of Africa's greatest rivers to create the Okavango Delta.

Given its year round supply of water in the stunning Okavango Delta - a wetland within a desert – the wildlife of Botswana is spectacular and Chobe, Savuti and Moremi regions are full of game. Some of the largest herds of elephants in Africa are found here along with hungry predators stalking prolific numbers of buffalo. Our Botswana Elephant & Predator Research Safari accompanies researchers on specially adapted game drives to gain insight into their vital conservation work. This trip also introduces the concept of sound safaris – a unique activity joining a wildlife sound recorder.

It is also a place to enjoy the smaller flora and fauna on walks and mokoro safaris through the waterways in some of the last true remaining areas of wilderness thanks to the government's visionary approach to high yield, low impact tourism - you quite simply have the game all to yourself.
