Congo Bonobo Trekking Tour

bonobo
  • Track bonobos deep in the heart of the Congo
  • Experts will offer an insight into bonobo behaviour
  • Explore the fascinating culture of the forest communities
  • Cruise the Congo river to one of the wildest places on earth
Threatened by the loss of their rainforest habitat, years of political unrest and an escalating bushmeat trade, bonobos are in serious trouble. Working alongside the African Wildlife Foundation, this tour is designed not only to track the elusive bonobo in the rich rainforests of the DRC but also to meet the people who live here, offering a few select clients the chance to experience the adventure of a lifetime.

Search for animals found nowhere else on the planet, follow in the footsteps of the great explorers, traversing the famous Congo river and experience the traditional Bantu and forest communities barely touched by the modern world.

Whilst the countries tragic past is well documented and positive news from the area hard to find, optimism is not and the warm welcome you will receive from people who have learnt to adapt to difficult conditions will help break down many preconceived ideas about this rich and fascinating part of Africa.
