The “Camp of the Elephants” is a traditional style tented camp, deliberately kept very simple so as to maximise the classic close to nature ‘safari’ experience. It’s based in a Maasai conservancy just outside Amboseli and is run by Mike and Judy Rainy, together with their daughter Jessica and son-in-law Jeff Worden, all characters with a wealthy of stories to tell. Six en suite twin tents only at any time. Mt Kilmanjaro watches your every move: from dawn’s yellow sunlight to watching the moon cast its shine on its white topped glaciers around a campfire at night, it the eternal backdrop to this classic camp.

Wildlife
Large well studied elephant herds, Maasai giraffe, buffalo, zebra, eland, Coke's hartebeest, waterbuck, gazelle and Impala; Cheetahs and lions are also seen frequently.

Activities
Great elephant watching on day and night game drives or bush walks, bird watching and guided walks with habituated baboon troops. Visits to Masai settlements, on-going conservation and ecology studies.

Eco-credentials
The Rainy’s have a remarkable relationship with the local Kisongo Masai pastoralists, traditional custodians of the area's wildlife wealth which they refer to as "our cattle outside our bomas". They grant permission for the Rainy’s to use their land, and it is reciprocated with financial support and representation for their community. Mike is one of the few white Kenyans who speak the Maa language.
