Rekero Tented Camp
This old fashioned family run tented camp in the very heart of the Mara, is quintessentially English in ambience, where one feels more a house guest than a visitor, such is the welcome from the Maasai guides, Jackson Ole Looseyia, and the young Beaton family. From the dining table one can watch wildebeest cross the Talek river just 100 metres away during the migration, and large well fed crocs and hippos can be seen from your tent, along the banks of the river. The camp is set up seasonally and caters for only fourteen guests in comfortable tents each en suite with flush loos and a charmingly shower system!
Wildlife
Herds of elephants and buffalo, prides of lions, leopards, hyena, cheetah and countless gazelle and antelope, adding to the millions of zebra and wildebeest during the migration.
Activities
Game drives in your own Land Cruiser vehicle, photography and stargazing, walking, birdwatching, sundowners and visits to Maasai villages. Optional Balloon safaris.
Eco-credentials
A mobile camp it is carefully managed to avoid disruption. Gerald Rainey was a pioneer in integrating local Maasai, tourism and wildlife and is the founder of the Koiyaki Guiding School.
