Kitich Camp
Kitich Camp is a one off safari camp! Guilio Bartolli, a larger than life character of Italian descent, settled on this remote ex hunting camp in the early 1990’s, and today guides through the remote Matthews mountain range of Northern Kenya. His stories are legendary and his antics more so, as he and his Ndorobo and Samburu trackers lead you out tracking elephant in his emblemed slippers! Only 4 Mara style tents with en suite bucket showers and ‘long drops’ loos look out on permanent river under huge Cordia Africana trees full of stranger figs vines, and a communal dining and bar area, with an Italian influenced cuisine.
Wildlife
Elephants, buffalo, lions, leopards, warthog, de fassa waterbuck, bushbuck, giant forest Hog, mongoose, badgers and hyena. Great for birds.
Activities
Mainly elephant tracking on foot, swimming in pools and climbing hills. No game drives. Samburu Manyatta visits. Great for birders and butterflies. No children.
Eco-credentials
The elephant population has expanded hugely, with the security of this important valley and its water sources. Sponsorship for schools and a cooperative approach to pastrolists has greatly enhanced conservation.
