Tassia Lodge

Steppes Discovery awaiting image

Tassia was built entirely from local materials. No live trees were cut down to build the lodge and even the cement used was eco-friendly. The lodge is owned by the local Maasai community and overseen by Antonia and Charlie Wheeler. Six simple but chic cottages line a ridge around a central living area and a swimming pool. The pool overlooks a natural water hole and is fed by an underground spring. The lodge sleeps twelve adults and a number of children in a separate bunkhouse. There is an excellent
chef at the lodge, a good management team and excellent staff, not to mention the resident leopard!

Wildlife
A resident leopard and wild dog pack, elephant and other wildlife like eland, gerenuk and kudu.

Activities
Game drives, guided walks, swimming in river and rock pools, sundowners, bush breakfasts.

Eco-credentials
The Mokogodo Maasai community own this lodge. Profits support numerous households with schools, medical care, water supplies, rangers and other operations.
