Kirindy Forest
This is one of the most rewarding wildlife habitats on Madagascar, and yet it is not part of the network of national parks and reserves. Kirindy has abundant and diverse wildlife and is the best place to look for a number of dry endemic dry forest species like giant jumping rat, narrow-striped mongoose and pygmy mouse lemur. It is also the most likely location to see a fosa.
The best months to visit this region are October to December, before it gets too hot and wet. Avoid June to August when some animals aestivate or are less active.
