Kaokoland

Himba woman, Namibia

Kaokoland, in northern Kaokoveld, is Namibia at its most enticing - and yet most inhospitable.  It is the land of the Himba, a traditional, pastoral people, relying upon herds of drought-resistant cattle for their livelihood.  Kaokoland's remote 'roads' need high-clearance 4x4 vehicles and are dangerous for the unprepared.
