Trip Summary
Tracking gorillas in the wilds of Rwanda is for many, one of the ultimate wildlife experiences. This unique tour allows you to follow in the footsteps of Dian Fossey herself, coming face-to-face with one of the world’s most endangered apes in the mist covered mountains of Volcanoes National Park. You will be staying in Virunga lodge, consistently rated by our well travelled clients as one of the best in Rwanda, (by some the best in East Africa!) and with breathtaking views across the Volcanoes, misty lakes in the distance dotted with fishing villages and one of the warmest welcomes around, it’s easy to see why.
Not only will you enjoy the thrill of following gorilla families in the park itself and meet the rangers and guides who are working hard to continue Fossey’s legacy, but there is also the chance to visit the site of her research camp in the beautiful valley of Karisoke. However, you can also visit the endemic golden monkeys as they play in the bamboo, explore the regions colourful markets and experience the famous Rwandese hospitality, which is such a huge part of the success of our tours.
