Rwanda is without doubt, synonymous with the mountain gorilla and tracking gorillas in the this beautiful country is a highlight for many people. However, many people send no time exploring the rest of this beautiful country which can offer some spectacular game drives in the far east in little visited Akagera National Park, bordering Tanzania. There are also chimpanzees in the south amongst the forests of Nyungwe, which are also home to some of the countries best birding and swathes of rich green tea plantations. The sandy shores of Lake Kivu are also the perfect place to end a trip allowing you to unwind and enjoy some traditional R&R. However, it is driving between many of these places that you see the real country, full of colour and warmth, with brightly dressed women and colourful plantations dotted with simple village huts and smiling faces.
