Phantom Forest Eco Reserve, Knysna
The Phantom Forest Eco Reserve is on the southern Cape coast, in the heart of the Garden Route. This private nature reserve, on the Knysna River, offers a unique bio-diversity of habitats ranging from Afromontane forest and Cape coastal fynbos to estuarine wetland. With spectacular views of the Knysna river estuary, lagoon and heads, accommodation is luxurious and the cuisine superb.
Wildlife
There are over 150 bird species, bush pig, bushbuck, grysbok, the rare blue duiker (one of Africa’s smallest antelope), and a variety of small game.

Enjoy a brisk day’s sailing along the coast, paragliding off the coast at Brenton, horse riding around the lakes at Sedgefield, enjoy a game of golf on magnificent courses along the Garden Route, a body boma – a stress release centre, canoe up the Knysna river
Eco-credentials
Emphasis is placed on the use of sustainable methods of construction. Alien vegetation, gleaned directly from the lodge’s eco-restoration programme, has been utilised in floors, furniture, roofs and boardwalks.
