Arusha National Park, Tanzania

Lion Pride at water hole, Tanzania, Africa

With daily international connecting flights, Arusha town is a great access point into Tanzania and a good selection of lodges nearby offers the chance to spend a night here to catch up with yourself before beginning your safari, or before you fly home. Arusha National Park itself lies on the slopes of the dormant volcano of Mount Meru and comprises a wide range of ecological zones.

The park is home to almost 400 species of birds with an enormous variety of water fowl inhabiting the string of alkaline crater lakes and the highland forest dwellers sharing their ancient cedar tree perches with graceful troops of Black and White Colobus monkeys.
