Mwagusi Safari Camp

Mwagusi Night Diner mwagusi bedroom

Managed by Chris Fox, this small tented camp nestles in the banks of the Mwagusi Sand River, is probably one of the best lodges in the park, with an authentic “bush” atmosphere but still immensely comfortable. The ten large tents under thatched roofs, are all built facing out onto the river bed and the small private balconies are scattered with huge cushions and inviting hammocks, where you can watch the world go by. The food is great, with the menus drawing on the fresh farm produce available from Iringa and the Mufindi Highlands and dinner is sometimes taken out in the dry river bed, with lanterns placed along the rock face in the dry riverbed - very atmospheric!

Wildlife
Large elephant and buffalo herds, greater and lesser kudu as well as the majestic sable and roan antelope - an abundance of lion, leopard and cheetah and the elusive wild dog.

Activities
Excellent bush walks, game drives, bird walks around camp with excellent guides, bush picnics.

Eco-credentials
The lodge itself is built from sustainable local materials and is also a keen advocate of effective wildlife management, liaising regularly with the Tanzanian Parks Authorities.
