Kirurumu Tented Lodge
Located just outside the park, Kirurumu is set high on the edge of the Great Rift Valley, enjoying panoramic views eastward over Lake Manyara. The Lodge is unobtrusive, having been built with great sensitivity in line with the owner’s commitment to eco-sensitive tourism. The large canvas meru style tents, complete with simple furnishings, offer an authentic bush feel, all with private bathrooms. However, the main draw here is the view, particularly from the lounge and bar area, which both offer a great location to relax during the heat of the day or enjoy your sundowners.
Wildlife
Excellent birding, unique tree-climbing lions, other cats, elephants, large troops of olive baboons, waterbuck and dik-dik.
Activities
Interpretive bush walks, game drives, evening drives, bird watching.
Eco-credentials
Lodge was built around existing flora and fauna, no trees removed, tent bases made from local volcanic stone, roofs thatched from local materials and water heated by solar power. Lodge also supports the local community through the local Community Based Tourism Agreement.
