Located in East Africa, Uganda offers a contrasting feel to the rest of the African continent. It encompasses the best parts of the whole African continent through striking scenic masterpieces and enigmatic wildlife, including the illusive Mountain Gorilla.

Given its location and hugely diverse habitat, from open savannah, snow-capped mountains, semi-desert and of course Afro-montane forest, Uganda can offer some incredible wildlife experiences. The country has some of the richest primate habitats in Africa and trekking mountain gorillas and chimpanzees in lush, prehistoric rainforests is one of the highlights of any trip here.
 
However, Uganda is also considered by many to be the best bird watching destination in Africa and with over 1000 species recorded and several bird-rich habitats that are hard to reach elsewhere, even those with little interest in bird will find the colourful turaco’s and the elusive shoebill a real treat. There are also more traditional plains game to be found in Uganda’s National Parks, where you find lions that climb trees, chimpanzee’s in gorges and handsome Ugandan Kob as well as 1200 species of butterfly, some of the largest crocodiles on the Nile, huge numbers of chameleons and some of the most welcoming people in Africa, it is easy to see why Uganda is one of the most colourful and alluring wildlife destinations with so much to offer from its various regions.
