Kampala, Uganda
Kampala is the largest city in Uganda and is also the countries capital. It is often used as the start point of a visit to Jinja, the source of the Nile or a day's white water rafting on the Nile itself.
Situated just a few miles from Lake Victoria and laying on the seven hills makes it a great base to explore the wonderful surroundings this part of Uganda has to offer.
It is considered that modern day Kampala is now a confident city it has been the centre of political intrigue for many years. However, today’s forward-looking capital is vastly different from the battered city to which it was reduced to in the 1980s. It is not just the modern development that has created a stronger city; it is the residents and people of Kampala.
Accomodation is developing within the city; The Emin Pasha Hotel is Kampala’s first boutique hotel and flaunts elegance and comfort whilst evoking the taste of a bygone era. Kampala itself has been through vast changes over the past twenty to thirty years but its recent developments are creating a great place to explore some of the gems Uganda has to offer.
