Tongabezi Lodge

Tongabezi Lodge exterior Tongabezi Lodge interior

The most striking feature of this lodge is its quirky architecture.  The 5 cottages and 4 stone and thatch houses are set amongst a grove of African ebony trees, only metres from the Zambezi River.  Even the swimming pool has been built into the rock cliff.  The four houses – the Honeymoon, Tree, Bird and the Dog House are uniquely designed using local materials and have an open-plan bedroom overlooking the river.

The Tongabezi Trust School, Tujatane, was opened in 1996 and provides education to the Tongabezi staff children, as well as children from the local community in an area where educational funding and materials are scarce.  The school is self-funding and apart from the first classroom, the rest of the school has been built purely from donations.
