Chiawa camp
Set beneath a grove of mahogany trees, about 8km inside the national park, Chiawa camp has 8 spacious, en-suite tents. The thatched lounge/bar area, with observation deck, and dining room overlook the river. A carefully positioned viewing hide overlooks the confluence of the Zambezi and Chowe Rivers and the camp is open from April to November
Wildlife
The national park is home to lion, leopard, herds of elephant and buffalo, hippo and over 300 species of birds
Activities
Gameviewing activities include day and night drives, bush walks, river safaris and angling. Canoe down the Chifunguli Channel past wallowing hippos.
Eco-credentials
At Chiawa Camp conservation is a way of life. The camp has also undertaken two unusual wildlife projects, reintroducing wild cheetahs and a ground hornbill into the Park. The camp also supports local AIDS orphans.
