Built in 1976 as an oceanographic research vessel for the Royal Dutch Navy, Plancius sailed for the Dutch Navy until June 2004 before being purchased and fully rebuilt as a comfortable, but not luxury 110-passenger expeditionary vessel. Summer 2010 will be her inaugural Arctic season. She offers a choice of cabins, Quad, Triple, Twin and Superior, all with en suite bathrooms.
