Trip Summary
Steppes Discovery, in exclusive co-operation with the Orangutan Foundation UK, are offering a select few the opportunity to go behind the scenes of orangutan conservation in Tanjung Puting National Park – the best place in the world to see wild orangutans. Unlike the tourist heavy region in Sepilok, Malaysian Borneo that sees coach loads of tourists visit daily, our tour gives you access to orangutan habitats that are accessible ONLY to Steppes Discovery client with virtually guaranteed sightings.
You will also be spending time on the private river boats, exploring the small waterways that connect the forest, looking out for proboscis monkeys, kingfishers and monitor lizards as well as the numerous birds and butterflies found near the lodge. You will also gain a deeper understanding of the vital role the forest plays in securing the orangutans future as well as the chance to meet the communities who live in the region.
Staying in the comfortable Rimba eco-lodge, (with private bathrooms) overlooking the Sekonyer river, in the heart of the rainforest you will not only have the orangutans all to yourself, but by joining this tour you will be will given the privilege of seeing these gentle creatures in the wild whilst helping in the fight against their extinction. One of our original tours and still as popular as ever.
There are also plenty of options to spend a few days extending your time on the beautiful beaches of Bali, the spectacular temples of Borobodur, or the dramatic volcanoes at Mt Bromo.
