Every year raptors from across North America head south for the winter, their journey takes them down through Central America and past a point in Costa Rica’s Southern Caribbean region of Talamanca where they get funnelled into a 5km corridor between the sea and the mountains. This point is Kekoldi where, in 2001, the largest recorded raptor count reached 2.9 million vultures, hawks, falcons and ospreys flying over this point during the 3 month migration period. During the peak of the migration, in October, up to 200,000 birds of prey can be seen in flocks flying overhead.
This trip has been designed to explore some of the best wildlife and birding sites in Costa Rica’s Caribbean region, from cloud forests to rain forests culminating, in season, with this extraordinary raptor migration.
Price: From £1,645 per person based on two people travelling excluding flights.
