Wildlife
Tortuguero shelters a fabulous array of wildlife, including more than 300 bird species, among them the great green macaw; 57 species of amphibians and 111 of reptiles, including three species of marine turtles, 60 mammal species, including 13 of Costa Rica's 16 endangered species, including manatees, ,jaguars, tapirs, ocelots, cougars and river otters. Commonly seen birds include toucans, aricaris, oropendolas, swallow-tailed hawks, several species of herons, kingfishers, anhingas, parrots, and jacanas.
Activities
Our hotel has an extense forest that offers you the possibility to view the jungle life from a perspective previously reserved for a select group of researchers and photographers. Tortuguero is considered to be the most important nesting site in the Western half of the Caribbean for the green turtle and other species of sea turtles. We will take you to an amazing tour to see them and you will learn all about this incredible phenomena of nature. ( Available only on June, July, August, September and October).
