Coatimundis
Coatimundis are a Latin American relative of the racoon. They measure from 30-70cms (12-27in) from head to the base of the tail and about 30cms at the shoulder (12in). They look like a racoon which has been stretched with an elongated face and long tail.
Their range goes from the south-western United States all the way down to northern Argentina. They can be found in a number of environments from hot and arid climates to humid rainforests and even, on occasion, on the colder slopes of the Andes.
Coatis are day-time animals who often live in packs, though older males tend to become solitary. They communicate through various chirps as well as specific postures or motions.
They are frequently seen near human habitation as they like to rummage through garbage in look for sources of food.
