Trip Summary
A visit to Rwanda will leave you with unforgettable memories of a very special place – the warmth of the Rwandese people, the spectacular countryside and of course the iconic mountain gorilla. Whilst this tour offers you the opportunity to trek gorillas twice in the Parc National des Volcans, you will also have the chance to go behind the scenes at the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary project and meet the gorilla researchers first hand – something not possible on conventional tours.
This insight will allow you gain a deeper understanding of this fragile environment and the issues that local people and wildlife face in today's Rwanda. Not only will you follow in the footsteps of Dian Fossey, but many of our older guides having worked alongside Fossey herself and if you are lucky enough to meet them, they will offer you a fascinating insight into her work.
By joining this tour, not only are you directly contributing to the ongoing survival of the mountain gorilla, but you will also be touched by the optimism and vitality of the Rwandese people who offer one of the warmest welcomes in Africa. There is also plenty of opportunity to extend the tour and visit the chimpanzees in Nyungwe, big game in Akagera, or the chance to relax on the shores of Lake Kivu.
