Group Trip Summary
This tour to Shaanxi Province aims to offer a privileged insight into two panda reserves, which up until now have had little tourism. The Reserves of Foping and Changqing were established in the late 1990s and set up for Giant Panda protection in the Qinling Mountains, south of Xian, and as such hold some of the best high altitude primary forest and flora to be seen in China.

The itinerary allows for some spectacular (and challenging) walking opportunities to track and view wild pandas in their natural habitat and to meet with the individuals fighting to ensure the survival of China’s fragile wilderness and wildlife. Given the remote nature of the area, you will also have the chance to experience life in traditional rural China in areas little visited by the outside world.

Steppes Discovery's panda trip in March 2011 was a great success with several sightings of wild pandas- read our blog for more details
