Having been lucky enough to travel extensively through most of South East Asia, when Chris first visited Indonesia over 15 years ago, he found it to be one of the least explored and most diverse parts of Asia. Having since returned on numerous occasions, his first impression remains unchanged and he continues to discover many of the countries most remote wilderness areas.

Sumatra, Komodo and Borneo are home to Indonesia’s incredible wildlife including the Sumatran tiger and rhino, the Asian elephant, the Komodo dragon and of course, Asia’s only great ape, the orangutan. Unlike orangutan tours in Malaysia at Sepilok or the Danum Valley, a visit to Tandjung Puting National Park offers you virtually guaranteed sightings of orangutans in the wild, but without the crowds. It is here that you can take a tour of Camp Leaky, the famous research station established by Dr Birute Galdikas.

Indonesia’s dramatic geography and rich cultural heritage includes the largest single Buddhist structure in the world at Borobodur, elaborate funeral ceremonies in Sulawesi, Dayak tribes in the heart of Kalimantan, active volcanoes and some of the world’s most beautiful beaches in Bali, Lombok and the surrounding islands.

With such a hugely diverse country, Chris is on hand to guide you through planning a holiday to Indonesia, one of South East Asia’s most enigmatic countries.
