Corbett National Park
Situated along the valley of the Ramganga river and fringed by the Himalayan foothills in the north, Corbett National Park is a picturesque setting for a few days viewing wildlife. The 1318 Sq Km (509 Sq mile) reserve was originally a hunters’ paradise during the British Raj but was later established as the Hailey National Park, largely due to Jim Corbett, after whom the park is now named.
Corbett has many different ranges which provide habitat for a wide variety of bird and mammal species. Perhaps most well known for wild elephant, Corbett is also home to tiger and leopard although these are often well hidden in the long grass or dense jungle.
