In cooperation with the Sri Lankan Wildlife Conservation Society, this trip offers a small group of intrepid travellers the chance to become involved in some of Asia's most pioneering conservation work. Take part in the leopard monitoring programme to see how camera trap imagery is being used to help in the long term conservation of these elusive cats, where you may also be lucky enough to catch images of more elusive nocturnal animals such as Civet, Ceylon jackal and sloth bear. Explore Wasgamuwa National Park, famed for its large herds of wild elephants, before embarking on a marine safari to follow sperm and blue whale. You will also be invited to meet the local villagers whose lives on the park boundaries are most affected by the wildlife as they work hard to preserve both the fragile ecosystem and their traditional way of life.
