Trip Summary
Hudson Bay in Churchill is without a doubt the best place in the world to see polar bears, with virtually guaranteed sightings at certain times of the year. Each October and November, the tundra becomes a stopover for more than a thousand polar bears on their annual migration to the pack ice. The chance to see them in a relatively small wilderness area, ensures that the polar bear sightings here are the best in the world, drawing enthusiasts and wildlife photographers from across the globe.

Steppes Discovery tours however are different as our tour leaders work closely with polar bear researchers from the World Wildlife Fund whose expert knowledge and understanding of the polar bears gives us the edge, putting you in the right place at the right time. Our specially designed vehicles are also unique as although they are designed to hold 30 people, we limit our tours to a maximum of 16 ensuring everyone has enough space and a decent view.

Comfortably based in Churchill, we use small, family run guesthouses with private en-suite bathrooms and plenty of character. If lucky, you can also time your trip to see the spectacular Northern Lights – no wonder that in the 15 years these tours have been running, it remains one of our most popular bear tours.
