Though vast areas of the Colombian Amazon (which forms 35% of the country) are still out of bounds, there are some options for exploring the rainforest here. These are accessed from the capital of the state of Amazonas, Leticia, a town which sits on the Amazon River, on the border both Peru and Colombia.
