Cloud Forest
Just a few hours from Quito, Ecuador's cloud forest offers a unique encounter with nature, especially for bird lovers. Like the Amazon rainforests, cloud forests support incredibly diverse numbers of plants and animals, from monkeys to hummingbirds, but uniquely they are sustained by the thick fog banks that roll in off the ocean. Cloaking the steep slopes of the Andes, the vegetation is swathed in mist, making it a mystical place.
There are over 1600 species of birds are found in the cloud forests and the panoramic views from the top across the thick cloud forest are spectacular.
