Napo Wildlife Centre

Napo Wildlife Centre

Napo Wildlife Centre is a popular eco-lodge owned by local Añangu Quichua Indians, and set on the south banks of Rio Napo in Yasuni National Park. Reaching Napo Wildlife Centre involves flying by light aircraft to Coca, gliding along the Rio Napo in a sheltered motorised canoe, and then paddling along Blackwater Creek in a traditional dugout canoe. Napo Wildlife Centre offers 12 enormous cabañas set around Lake Anangucocha and built in local Añangu Quichua style. All cabañas are screened and able to accommodate three guests comfortably in a king and twin size bed with 24 hour solar electricity and hot water showers. A hammock is strung across each front porch to engage a private vista across the lake and forest. Various nature trails lead into the reserve, with excursions to two clay licks, each with blinds to avoid infringing on the array of parrots species that feed there. A 36m (120ft) observation platform is set deep within the reserve atop a giant Ceiba tree where guests can experience the vibrant canopy ecosystem coupled with extensive views across the rainforest. A further, more conveniently located observation tower is situated at the main lodge just off the bar.
