Trip Summary
This specialist, small group tour takes a maximum of just ten people and is hosted by a local wildlife guide and a professional photographer, William Burrard-Lucas, who will offer expert photographic advice. All level of talent and skill is welcome - all that is required is your own digital camera.
Such diversity of habitat comes with a range of accommodation, from the comfort of a rainforest lodge to basic bungalow accommodation in Kirindy Reserve in order to optimise the wildlife viewing in this region. Most of the regions visited offer little or no alternatives and where ever possible, we use the best accommodation available.
Habitats/Reserves visited:
Andasibe Mantadia National Park (Montane Rainforest)
Key Species:
Mammals: Indri, diademed sifaka (Mantadia), common brown lemur, red bellied lemur, black and white ruffed lemur (Mantadia), grey bamboo lemur
Birds: Blue coua, red-fronted coua, blue vanga, red-tailed vanga amongst others
Reptiles and frogs: Parson's chameleon, short-horned chameleon, short-nosed chameleon and nose-horned chameleon
Berenty Private Reserve (Spiny Forest, Gallery Forest)
Key Species:
Mammals: ring tailed lemur, Verreaux's sifaka, white-footed sportive lemur, grey mouse lemur
Birds: Madagascar harrier hawk, Madagascar sparrow hawk, giant coua, hook-billed vanga
Reptiles: Warty chameleon, Oustalet's chameleon
Kirindy (Dry Deciduous Forest)
Key Species:
Mammals: notable for six species of nocturnal lemur, also Verreaux's sifaka and red-fronted brown lemur. Other mammals include fosa and narrow-striped mongoose.
Birds: white-breasted mesite, Coquerel's coua, crested coua, amongst others
