One of our most pioneering wildlife tours and for those who are prepared to face the challenges of travel in one of the worlds most remote regions, you will be justly rewarded. We were the first company in the UK to offer tours to the Congo and the Central African Republic and our experience has led to this being not only one of our most exciting, but also one of our most successful tours over the last 10 years.

Steppes Discovery, in conjunction with the Wildlife Conservation Society and the World Wildlife Fund for Nature are offering you the chance to explore the original heart of darkness, stepping deep into the virgin rainforest of the Congo basin, visiting both the Republic of Congo AND the Central African Republic. The forest clearings of Ndoki (Congo) and Dzangha Sangha (CAR) are a unique feature that allow you observe some of the largest concentration of forest elephants in Africa and track the elusive lowland gorillas alongside experienced wildlife experts from the WCS and WWF.

This tour also allows you the chance to spend time with the indigenous Ba'Aka community who live in the forest itself, learning about their relationship with the flora and fauna in the region. Whilst most places on Earth have long since been explored, the forests of Congo and the Central African Republic have remained wild and out of reach, home to some of the world’s best kept wildlife secrets.
