TOFT Wildlife Tourism Award Evening a Great Sucess

The recent Travel Operators For Tiger (T.O.F.T.) Wildlife Tourism Awards, held in Delhi event was a huge success and was attended by many of the key members of T.O.F.T. Hosted by Mike Pandey, India’s David Attenborough, 140 people from the tourism industry, conservation agencies and the Government attended the event held on the lawns of the British High Commission covered by 3 of India’s main TV teams as well as CNN. These awards are designed to showcase the leaders in sustainable tourism practices across the country and was the brainchild of Julian Matthews, the founder of Steppes Discovery (then known as Discovery Initiatives).
In keeping with our own commitment to responsible tourism, Steppes Discovery helped sponsor the awards and allowed us to strengthen existing bonds between lodges, guides and organizations who are working hard to protect the wonderful flora and fauna found in India.
The event also saw the publication of the ‘Good Wildlife Tourism Guide to India’ which many of the partners with whom we work strictly adhere to.
This is hoping to become an annual event and we look forward to continuing our sponsorship in the coming years, as the responsible tourism in India goes from strength to strength.
