Sales Support
As a young girl my parents took me on a once in a life time trip to Bali, Taiwan and Japan. After getting a taste for the foreign heat I knew I wanted to explore new places. In order to pass my A-levels and my degree I planned a big trip after each one to inspire me to get the work done. Fortunately I passed both, after my A-levels I worked and saved to spend almost three months travelling in South & Central America (Bolivia, Ecuador, Mexico and Peru). In 2010 I returned from a most inspiring six month trip to the Far East. I still have a big list of places to see and new food to try.
For me travelling is a massive privilege to have and it should be valued as a tremendous opportunity. It only seems natural for me now be part of Steppes and help to encourage people to go out there and see something new.
Countries you provide sales support for at Steppes Travel?
Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico, Venezuela, Honduras, El Salvador, Belize, Guatemala, Peru, Ecuador and The Galapagos (also New Zealand).
What has been your favourite travel experience?
It’s a tough question but as usual it is the unexpected things that stand out the most. I think going on a crazy last minute three day motorbike trip around Vietnam - one of the most exhilarating trips I have ever done!
The best hotel/lodge that you have stayed in?
Tom’s Lodge in the Amazon Jungle, staying in only a tent made my jungle experience a lot more real and exciting! Hoping no Tarantula’s would creep through the zip which wouldn’t close!
What has been your most remote travel experience?
One of the most remote places I've stayed was on a farm in Kerala, South India. There was only a small family and two other volunteers there in the middle of nowhere and nothing much to do but deseed tamarind!
Most embarrassing travel experience?
Finding out I had a phobia of heights on the first day of my trek through the mountains to Machu Picchu - which resulted in me being the last to reach camp everyday and checking each step with my trusty walking stick.
Your one luxury when you travel?
My best friend! It is lovely to share new experiences with someone.
What’s your best piece of travel advice?
Enjoy yourself! I think the main thing is to remember that the place you are going to is different to home and to respect those differences. Let your eyes open to new ways of life, that is really what travelling to new places is about.
Where you would like to visit next and why?
Next on my list is Cuba, this little island fills me with curiosity and I am an avid rum fan!
