Andy Noss has worked for the Wildlife Conservation Society since 1996, first in the Gran Chaco of Bolivia, and moving to Ecuador in 2007 to support indigenous peoples including the Huaorani of the Yasuní region. He began camera trapping in 2000, focusing especially on identifying individuals and estimating population density of jaguars, but also looking at pumas, ocelots, Geoffroy's cats, tapir, and giant armadillos. In Ecuador he has participated in systematic camera trap surveys for jaguars and other mammals in the Ecuadorian Amazon--Yasuní National Park (ITT concession) and the Cuyabeno Reserve (Cofán territory of Sábalo)--and has advised Santiago Espinosa who conducted the surveys at Queheri‟ono and three other Yasuní sites.
