Dr Sonam Wang

The affable and knowledgeable Dr. Sonam Wangyel Wang is the Director of Bhutan’s Nature Conservation Division within the Department of Forests. Born and brought up on a rural farm in Western Bhutan, he has studied in Bangor, North Wales, Cornell University in USA and at the internationally recognised WildCru Wildlife Research Unit at Oxford. Much of his fieldwork has been in the Jigme Singye Wangchuk National Park. Much of his present role involves coordinating the Bhutanese animal census, as well as other conservation projects. His participation on this trip will not only give you a real insight into Bhutan and its rural and cultural treasure troves, but also privileged experiences in the Royal Manas National Park.
