Tour Expert
An associate member of the Royal Photographic Society and life long Tanzania enthusiast, Paul Joynson Hicks is a professional commercial photographer based in Tanzania. At the very heart of his photography is an exuberant passion for Africa, where he has lived and worked for 14 years. His love of the continent and the sheer vibrancy of African life are reflected in Paul's three published coffee table books, which celebrate in photographs, the drama of Tanzania, Uganda and the South Luangwa Valley in Zambia.
Through his commercial photography business Blue Mango Ltd, Paul has worked in many African countries, producing strong evocative images for brochures, advertising, billboards, newspapers, magazines, calendars, postcards and websites.
In addition to his photography, Paul has also set up a number of very successful charitable organisations. In Uganda, Paul worked with street children and set up the Tigers Football Club (www.retrak.org). In Tanzania he created the Goat Races (www.goatraces.com), which has become an annual fixture and raised more than $150,000 over the past 6 years. In 2004 he established Wonder Workshop (www.wonderwelders.org), which enables handicapped men and women to produce highly commercial creative metal artwork, wooden toys, recycled paper products, and handmade soap, which are now taking commissions from around the world.
