Aged 32 is the son of a local Maasai chief who was keen to let him have an education, yet he never left his passion for local wildlife and wilderness, or his cultural roots. As is the way with the Maasai culture from a young age he was taught to be both an expert in the ways of the wild, in animal behaviour, biology, botany and birdwatching and quickly passed his key exams in the Kenya Professional Safari Guide Association. He joined the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust, under whose auspices this lion monitoring project is funded and run.
