Whiteface Capuchin Monkey
Whiteface capuchin monkeys are found in the forests and mangroves of Central and South America. Their backs, the end of their limbs and the back and top of their heads are black but fade to cream towards their face and belly. This colouration gives them the appearance of wearing a capuchin monk’s habit, giving the monkey its name.
These monkeys live in groups of up to 30 individuals and mainly feed on fruits and insects. Their prehensile (gripping) tail allows them to hold onto braches whilst keeping their hands free. Their very cheeky creatures and will, if you’re not careful go for anything they can get their hands on in the hope that it is food.
